History

The school evolved from ST.JOHS PRIMARY SCHOOL which began in January 1954 with only one student, Mary Mensah who is currently the Headmistress and daughter of the co-proprietors: Mr. and Mrs. John Hayford Mensah a Pharmacist and a cateress respectively. Mrs. Mensah was then the teacher.

There was a free supply of Mist Alba ,a popular purgative in those days and tea party every Friday for the children in the kokomlemle locality where the school was then located and this boosted enrollment in very short time and in addition to the enviable discipline instilled into the children.

The Primary school was soon over taken by Accra City Council to date at Accra New Town as there were then no school in the area but the couple were not perturbed, they went ahead to established several other schools notable among them are St John's Preparatory School which is solely a senior high school on 16TH May 1954 and St.John's Preparatory Primary School on 2nd February 1959.

In October 1989 the couple as a result of the government education reform programme of expanding the basic school established ST. JOHN'S JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL..
